Say the words, "office politics," and most of us have an immediate negative reaction. But why is that? And how can we change our mindset? It all starts with our perspective. If you think about it, office politics is about relationship building, being aware of the corporate culture, and being self-aware.
Often, office politics can be thought of as backstabbing or "sucking up" to a boss or people spreading rumors, but office politics may be more than that... they can also be career defining. In every organization, there is some version of politics. Make the choice to practice "good" politics vs. "bad" politics and it may make a difference in how people see you as a vital part of the organization.
